I was notified today that a Hungarian Court ruled AGAINST regulating e-cigarettes as medications. The Court had assigned me to provide an expert report concerning whether nicotine in e-cigarette cartridges has a pharmacologic effects or treats any disease. My report was delivered on January 2nd and was prepared based on pure science and common sense, with 17 references to published medical studies.
I think the Hungarian Court made a correct decision and hopefully the strategy of the Court to ask for expert consultation will be used as a guide by regulators...

Young children are attracted by the light that is the focus of e-cigarettes, small lustrous capsules with liquid nicotine, sometimes in bright colors, usually with good flavors like fruit, mint or licorice.
Adults often let the stuff lying around more freely than documented hazardous conventional cigarettes, and of course it is work of a moment for a child to pour in the liquid.

Since nicotine is a neurotoxin, it can be very dangerous for a small body. Now, more and more reports of children who end up in emergency rooms with life-threatening values when it comes to heart and blood pressure.

No deaths should have occurred so far, but the American equivalent to the Poison Information reports a rapid increase in accidents among children. The more serious of these types of cases was in 2012 almost 500.

At the same time another new statistics that the use of e-cigarettes increase very rapidly in the U.S..

It is not the least among American teenagers as e-cigarettes are to popularity grows, there is a doubling of use in a single year now measured.

American doctors and scientists are now increasing the strength of its warnings and stresses constantly that very little is still known about e-cigarettes are long lasting effects.

In addition, a fresh warning now issued to all e-cigarette using parents of young children to treat the products as the poison it is, and hide them away for their children.
